Spotlight on: Jason Statham. The watches of Hollywood’s tough guy, on the big screen,
and in real life. Martial artist, actor, and film producer Jason
Statham has become Hollywood’s signature anti-hero. And while he may always be in high-octane,
car-chasing scenes and even doing his own stunts, The Fast and The Furious actor always
looks stylish while doing so. A self-confessed lover of bespoke shirts and
suits, vintage cars, and luxury watches, Jason proves that even bad guys have what it takes
to look good.
Here are the watches we’ve spotted on Jason
Statham’s wrist, both on and off screen. Let’s start with his personal watches. Jason
has a Rolex heavy personal collection, but he’s been seen with a Patek Philippe, too! He’s constantly wearing his Rolex Explorer
II reference 1655, otherwise known as the Freccione, or the Steve McQueen. Introduced in 1971, this watch is the first
model of the Rolex Explorer II. Much like his cars, Jason likes finding watches that
are, in his words: “absolutely pristine from the vintage era”. Speaking of vintage, Jason has a very important
grail watch in his collection: the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona, nicknamed such because of
its association with the famous actor and racer.
Beyond the celebrity connection, the iconic
watch is best known for its exotic dial, with an unusually stark black and white contrast,
and Art Deco style font. Once in a while, you’ll also see Jason sporting
a Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph. A relatively young watch, it was launched in 2006. The
stainless steel model, has a gradient blue dial that’s perfect for casual settings. To complete his Rolex collection, here’s
the classic Rolex Submariner.
First created as a dive watch, it’s now considered a must
have of any watch lover, diver or not, for it’s ruggedly elegant look. Hollywood’s tough nut also wears robust
watches to match. We’ve seen Jason wear fantastic watches in his films, from IWC,
Panerai and Tag Heuer. For the 2006 action thriller movie, Crank,
Jason sported a Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph. The motorsports inspired watch is a perfect
choice for the high-octane car chase scenes.
Of course, the action movie star’s choice
watch, Panerai, also makes an appearance in Jason’s movies. Here he is in 2002’s The
Transporter, wearing a Panerai Luminor Chrono Daylight. The massive case, robust build and water resistance
of Panerai watches make them perfect adventure watches. In The Expendables franchise, Jason,
along with all the cast members, wore Panerai Luminor Submersible watches. And recently, Jason wore the IWC Aquatimer
Automatic 2000 in the 2016 film, Mechanic: Resurrection. The titanium construction and
rubber strap made it the ideal watch for underwater scenes.
It’s clear by now – Jason Statham’s choice
watches, are robust, ruggedly elegant, and timeless. Which one is your favorite? Tell us in the
